Coaching Intensive Training Brief Description
History
Our program began in 1986 and is one of the oldest coach programs in existence.
Philosophy
Each individual is viewed within a holistic and developmental framework that embraces the power of intentional change in our lives as leaders in all that we are.
Founders
Our founders are Frederic Hudson, Ph.D., founding President of The Fielding Graduate University; and Pamela McLean, Ph.D., psychologist and executive coach. Dr. McLean has lead the organization since 2001 and Dr.
Hudson serves in an advisory capacity.

Our classes are conducted by master coaches and experienced professionals, practitioners and contributors in the field of coaching. Our leadership teams include:

Accreditation Status
The Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara has ACTP (accredited coach training program) status through the International Coach Federation (ICF)
Our program is targeted at seasoned professionals in fields related to coaching including consulting, organizational development, human resources, leadership development as well as professionals in the fields of medicine, law, psychology, business, and leaders in various functions inside organizations. The typical participant is 40-60 years of age and has a substantial portfolio of life and work experience.
Participant Goals
Individuals who enter the program have a desire to:
- Strengthen their portfolio of capabilities as consultants and coaches in the field
- Strengthen their skill set as a leader in any functional area of an organization
- Take the first step in initiating and developing a coaching
culture inside their organizations
- Launch a private business as a professional coach in their particular area of expertise and specialization

- A fully completed application is required for consideration
- Applications are approved following participation in our pre-requisite seminars
Program Structure
The entire program occurs over a year-long period as follows:
- Attendance at the prerequisite programs: four-day LifeLaunch™ Seminar and one-day Coaching Seminar
- Attendance at three onsite Coach Certification Sessions (four days in duration)
- Development of a Customized Personal Development Plan that fits your area of specialization and your learning needs
- Regular meetings with your assigned Mentor/Coach
- Offsite Learning via weekly Small Learning Groups, Coaching Clinics, Mentor/Coach Calls, Required Reading and Participation on our WebBoard
- Taped and Supervised Coaching Sessions
- A Coaching Project and Paper
- A Final Portfolio of Your Learning Objectives and Outcomes
